Buying barcode label printers can be a little confusing. Especially if you have not bought one before, or do not know what to expect.

That being said, if you check just a few things before you buy a new printer, you will eliminate a lot of the problems you may experience otherwise.

How many labels can it print? -- Find out what the volume of labels you are going to need is before you buy a printer, as you need to know how many labels a specific printer can print every month.

After all, you do not want to buy a barcode label printer and then realize there is no way it is going to be able to handle the number of labels you will need.

What label size is the most common? -- While you may use different sizes of barcode labels, be sure you know which size of label you are likely to use the most and if the printer you are interested in buying them can accommodate that size.

Will you need to print batches of labels -- Most people that use barcode label printers need to either print batches of labels, or print on-demand.

Be sure you know which of the two you are likely to be doing the most and then make sure the barcode label printer you choose can handle that.

How long does a specific barcode label printer last? -- Most manufacturers will be able to tell you how long their printers usually last before they need to be replaced.

You can then decide if that is long enough for the printer you need, or if you should keep on looking for one that is more durable. After all, you do not want to buy a new barcode label printer and then discover it is going to need to be replaced in a few months time.
